ABC’S OF MAXIMUM GOAL SCORING PRACTICES

PRACTICE 1  MONDAY

  1. Welcome players to the Clinic.  Introduce myself.
  2. Introduce the other Instructors  (if you need something ask one of them)
  3. Learn about Goal Scoring in a good environment.
  4. Talk about the Principles of Maximum Goal Scoring.
  5. Drill Safety:  Stay in front of the goal lines for drills and away from back of net.
  6. Explain a couple of Principles i.e. strong side / weak side, 90 / 10.
00 – 10 minutes           WARM UP:  Weaving pylon drill (drive skating)

10 to 20                       DRILL # 1:  Gretzky straight line dribbling and Trottier deking

20 to 35                       DRILL # 2: Circle dribbling using “sweetspot” puckhandling

35 to 50                       DRILL # 3:  Puck protection using the 5 circles

50 to 70                       DRILL # 4:  Plan A and Plan B drill

70 to 90                       DRILL # 5  (7 options shooting)

SCRIMMAGE DRILL:  3 tennis balls

PRACTICE 2 TUESDAY

00 – 10 minutes          WARM UP: Weaving pylon drill (using drive skating / delays)

10 to 25                       DRILL # 1:  Receiving pass with hands forward using 5 circles.

25 to 45                       DRILL # 2:  One timer shooting drill (2 shots)

45 to 65                       DRILL # 3:  Plan A and Plan B Drill (do only 1 type of delay).

65 to 85                       DRILL # 4: Attacking forehand side of defender.

Time Remaining DRILL # 5:  Rapid fire breakaway drill.

SCRIMMAGE DRILL:  3 to 4 Tennis Balls

PRACTICE 3 WEDNESDAY

00 – 05 minutes          Moving Stretch let by Morris

05 – 20                        WARM UP:   Pivot Shot Drill

20 – 35                        DRILL # 1:  One timer drill repeated from yesterday.

One timer shooting drill (2 shots) (demonstrate shot).

35 – 45                        DRILL # 2:  PLAN A:  ATTACKS

45 – 55                        DRILL # 3:  Quarter ice PLAN B:  BATTLES

55 to 70                       DRILL # 4:  Full ice Plan B

70 to 80                       DRILL # 5   Attack Coaches Forehand side

80 to 90                       DRILL # 6    Transition passing for breakaway shots

SCRIMMAGE DRILL:  Tennis balls

 

PRACTICE 4 THURSDAY

00 – 05 minutes          Moving Stretch let by Morris

05 – 15                        SCRIMMAGE DRILL:  Tennis balls & Orange balls

15 to 25                       DRILL # 1:  “1 on 1” attacking Coaches forehand side

25 to 40                       DRILL # 2:  Full ice “1 on 1” attacks

40 to 55                       DRILL # 3:  Quarter “2 on 1” turning into “1 on 1”

55 to 70                       DRILL # 4:  Corner Cycling Drill  (Coach explain cycling)

70 to 90                       DRILL # 5  PLAN C:  CYCLING Full ice Corner Cycling Drill

 

PRACTICE 5 FRIDAY

00 – 05 minutes          Moving Stretch let by Morris

05 – 15                        Warm up Shooting Drill:  Coming across flat for pass

15 to 25                       SCRIMMAGE:  Pass from one half to the other half

25 to 40                       DRILL#1:EUROPEAN OUTLET PASS & FOLLOW DRILL:

40 to 55                       DRILL # 2:  Corner Cycling Drill  (Coach explain cycling)

55 to 70                       DRILL # 3:  WRAP AROUNDS

70 to 85                       DRILL # 4:  POINT SHOTS:

MOVING DEFLECTIONS

AND STATIONARY DEFLECTIONS

85 to 90 DRILL # 5:  BREAKAWAYs
